We Went to the Beach!
When I was younger, I would read books about people going to the beach (hello, Baby-Sitter's Club and your large number of books that involved trips to Sea City), but growing up in Minnesota didn't really translate into too many ocean-related vacations for my family.
But, as an adult, as much as I like the lakes of Minnesota, I really like a nice beach.
We just spent a week here - Miramar Beach (near Destin), Florida, on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
Every day we woke up in this condo building, and went across the street to the beach. Well, most days, at least. There were a few rainy and cold ones.
We played in the sand.
We hit up Fudpuckers, a touristy (yet fun) restaurant for dinner one night. We got lucky and only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. They have tons of alligators and an alligator show, so there was plenty to look at while we waiting.
I also had fun watching two adult men inflate and play on a giant inflatable rubber duck.
It was hard to leave, but there's no place like home!
