Rectangular Plates: Round 2
I got a new pattern roller and used it in making two different pieces - both pieces made the same way from the same pattern. Aside from the handle element on one, they looked virtually identical after the first firing.
Look at them after glazing:
Clay: MB Glaze: Frogbelly Firing: Cone 10 Reduction |
Clay: MB Glaze: Light Celadon Firing: Cone 10 Reduction |
I love how the different glazes make a huge difference in how the pattern appears. The more opaque Frogbelly creates a multi-color affect at the higher points of the rolled pattern. Essentially, the pattern allows the glaze to show off. On the tray, the transparency of the Light Celadon helps the fine lines of the rolled pattern be more visible. Or, this glaze lets the pattern show off.
